In the chapter, Advances in Dermatological Management , in the Year Book of Dermatology and Syphilology, 1953-1954, Marion Sulzberger 1 recommended the cartridge syringe for dermatological anesthesia in tissue which is often so firm as to offer considerable resistance. In theArchives, August, 1960, Robert A. Berger 2 described an improved technique, which is rather complicated, for the intracutaneous injection of steroid suspensions with a new syringe and special needles. A much easier method is to use a Tubex syringe with an empty, graduated, Tubex Sterile Needle Unit. They are available with a 25 gauge needle, 5/8 inch long, and a shortened bevel hypodermic needle, less than 1/10 inch long. The use of the Tubex Syringe with the empty Tubex Sterile Needle Unit is very simple: (1) Grasp barrel of syringe in one hand. With other hand pull the knob of plunger out firmly and turn the entire handle section aside |
