Florian Znaniecki is known mainly as a sociologist, and it is easy to forget that his early works were purely philosophical. In his writings he researched issues that were important at his time. But it is worth asking whether his work remains relevant today. In my paper I identify some of his philosophical ideas that are still valid, even in the context of contemporary philosophical theory and practice. I will show that we can still find some useful guidelines in his metaphilosophical beliefs. In particular, his methodology (philosophical synthesis) and his reflection about philosophical values (i.e. relativity, creativity) still could serve as a great introduction to philosophizing. |
