Tekstil ve Giyimde Biyomimetik: Görsel ve İşlevsel Etkiler

Popis: With the development of technological possibilities and differentiation of requirements, new functional features are introduced to products. In this context, upon studies in area of ”Biomimetic”, (bioimitation / biomimesis / biomimetry / biomimicry) structural or formal features of beings in nature are imitated from functional and visual aspects and brought to the products. The aim of the study is to examine the effects of visuality-function relationship in the universe of textile/clothing materials where biomimetic structures are applied. The main question of the search is, “Which are the formal characteristics of textile/clothing products produced in this sense which are determined by the function affecting the visuality?" It is thought that the findings obtained will guide designers to consider the relationship between visuality and functionality in the process of function-form design. The method of the research was determined by comparing the findings obtained by searching a literature review from various books, academic articles and thesis. Biomimetic studies revealed by new technologies have been investigated through publications on subject and examined within the scope of textile and clothing visuals, and the visual effects caused by the function have been discussed through the chart. Biomimetic applications encountered in academic and current sources are limited to eight entities. A comparison of visuality reflected by the material and form characteristics resulting from the function was made. As findings, textile/clothing products produced by taking inspiration from feather structure of peacock and penguin, web structure formed by spider, properties of leaves and cones against heat, surface structure of the rose, foot structure of the lizard and gliding feature of flying squirrel's body have been reached. In the results of working, it has been determined that visuality created by function is effective in textile and clothing products that will provide functional satisfaction for users. It has been observed that various effects occur in the surface and form characteristics of the material by applying the functional properties offered by nature. In the study, effects of the function of products on visual perception were discussed. It has been determined that function affects material visuality in 4 of 8 products in the visualness reflected by material feature of function. In the visual aspect reflected by form feature, it was seen that function affects product’s form in 1 of 8 products.
