Popis: | A and lateral chest roentgenograms (Fig 1 and 2) were obtained of this 3%-year-old white boy who had symptoms of a mild upper respiratory illness. He had dered significant birth hypoxia with resultant cerebral palsy, seizure disorder, and mental retardation. At birth, large cavernous hemangiomas covered most of his thorax. Congestive heart failure appeared during the neonatal period and was thought to be secondary to high output through the hemangiomas and a patent ductus arteriosus. During the first year of life, the patent ductus closed spontaneously and the hemangiomas resolved after radiation therapy. There had been no evidence of cardiopulmonary disease since the age of one. The physical examination on this admission was entirely normal from a cardiopulmonary standpoint. Blood count, routine chemistries and electrocardiogram were all within normal limits. |
