Popis: Objective: to study the prevalence of infectious mononucleosis (IM) and features of clinical course of the disease caused by VEB, CMV, HHV-6 and their combination in children. Material and methods. There 374 children aged from 10 months to 12 years with IM were provided with clinical and laboratory examination. Results. Infectious mononucleosis is more common in children of the first six years of life (77.0%). The incidence of IM is registered throughout the year, with rising during the autumn-winter period. In 34.0% of children, IM was caused by Epstein"Barr virus; in more than half of the cases a combination of pathogens (VEB + CMV) was detected. IM caused by cytomegalovirus, HHV-6 or the VEB+CMV combination had a more severe course. In the haemogram of patients with IM, leukocytosis (51.9%) and lymphocytosis (57.7%) prevailed. Atypical mononuclear cells in the diagnostic titre were detected in 54.7% of patients. Conclusions. Infectious mononucleosis has epidemiological, clinical and laboratory features of the course, depending on the aetiological agent of the disease.
