Popis: The third age of political communication is characterised by a significant increase in the importance of experts and expert knowledge in political decision-making processes. The use of political consulting and legally regulated lobbying has become a determinant of professionalization of politics. The increasing role of experts in various areas of social life in late modernity has resulted in the emergence of the category of expert culture, implemented also in the area of politics. The research goal pursued in the chapter is to define the notion of the political expert culture, the new concept, defined by the authors as a system of norms, procedures, and instruments regulating relations between experts and political decision makers. On the basis of the concept of political culture and political communication culture, the authors propose criteria for creating a typology of expert cultures. The theoretical findings are verified by examples of Poland and Germany, indicating structural conditions and possible consequences of the distinguished models for the decision-making processes.
