Popis: | The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) is widely used to screen elderly subjects for cognitive impairment.1 Grigoletto et al.2 highlight the importance of accounting for age, gender, and education while interpreting the MMSE results. The MMSE is also increasingly being used to monitor progression and treatment response in mild-to-moderate AD. We used data from 1,648 outpatients with dementia to study the short-term variability in total MMSE score. There were 1,648 participants in two identical multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, 26-week drug trials for AD.
