Popis: The wide spectrum of benign, malignant, and inflammatory testicular lesions have various imaging findings. Ultrasound is a sensitive primary imaging modality of intratesticular and paratesticular lesions; however, the advent of MR imaging to testicular lesions has improved the sensitivity of lesion characterization and localization. The benefits of MR in evaluating intrascrotal pathology have been explored before, most recently by Muglia and coworkers 1 and Woodward and coworkers. 2 Our intent is to provide additional examples of the utility of MR in assessing intrascrotal disease, as well as illustrate some instances in which MR provided no significant benefit over ultrasound. The application of multiple modalities in evaluation of the pediatric and adult patient has greatly decreased unnecessary surgical intervention. A pictorial compilation of correlating ultrasonic (US) and magnetic resonance (MR) images will be presented in a layout to facilitate comprehension of various appearances on these imaging modalities. Correlation will be made regarding initial clinical presentations and outcomes of these pediatric and adult patients. Benign, malignant, and inflammatory conditions will be discussed. Emphasis will be placed on the logic of imaging with these two modalities, as well as discussing the relative value, if any, of MR over ultrasound. Note: Case-specific comments are included for each provided example. Please note that these comments refer solely to the discussed case and are not necessarily applicable to all cases.
