Considering the great use and popularity of social networks today, it becomes more interesting to gather virtual teams for which it is inherent to communicate through computers and the internet. There is not enough research that addresses the relationship between some aspects of social behaviour and the willingness to participate in virtual team work. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine the correlation between personality traits of a Big five-factor personality model and participation in virtual team work as well as the link between some aspects of Facebook use and participation in virtual team work. The research was conducted on line on a sample of 108 students of the University of Mostar, the average age 21 (M = 21.75, SD = 1.66). The students did The Goldberg Questionnaire for Measuring Big Five Personality Dimensions (IPIP-50 S, Mlačić and Goldberg, 2007), Teamwork Measurement Scale (Nikodijević, 2015), and Questionnaire of some aspects of using Facebook designed for this research and a demographic questionnaire. There was a significant positive correlation between extraversion and participation in virtual team work, agreeableness and participation in virtual team work, and emotional stability and participation in virtual team work. Furthermore, there was a significant correlation between some aspects of using Facebook and participating in virtual team work. Membership in the on line group of generations of studies, success in the study and the success in the exam / exams were positively correlated with participation in virtual team work. |
