Nowadays, high-level penetration of photovoltaic (PV) generation is being integrated into the power system due to its economic and environmental benefits. However, this may affect the power system's angular stability in particular when the power system is weak. Motivated by this issue, in this paper a comprehensive angular stability analysis for two-area benchmark system is carried out for a PV penetration level of 30%. Comparisons of the stability impact when the PVs are online and offline are presented. Our simulation results show that both the PVs' location and industry requirements can mitigate the negative effects, that is reduction of power system's inertia, caused by displacement of the conventional generators. acceptedVersion |
