Popis: | Leadless pacing (LP) is a rapidly evolving technology for the treatment of bradyarrhythmia that avoids lead and device pocket-related complications of traditional transvenous pacemakers. As leadless pacemakers are placed with increased frequency, more patients will present to the operating theatre with these devices in place. With the increase in the complexity of LP technology, an evolving challenge for the anesthesiologist develops as current perioperative guidelines do not address management of LPs. Herein we present a case in which the complexity of an advanced LP technology contributed to hemodynamic instability encountered in a patient undergoing off pump coronary artery bypass grafting. Lessons learned from this report will add to the limited existing body of knowledge regarding perioperative management of leadless pacemakers in the cardiac surgical patient. |
