Popis: Information centers may be project-oriented, such as the Public Health Service's Air Pollution Technical Information Center, or they may be devoted to general coverage, as is true for Chemical Abstracts and Biological Abstracts. Information networks of many centers have also been formed, and this type of facility will be more prevalent in the future. In an environmental health information network, an analysis center will dispense data drawn from the network's specialized information centers and interpreted by specialists. Input will consist of original source information and preprocessed data such as output of abstract services, and all will be screened by specialists before going into the system. Output of the network will consist of a variety of services of value to industrial hygienists and toxicologists. Close cooperation between the network, industry, and professional societies will be required.
