Three-dimensional, two-dimensional seismic data and well 7216/11-1S data from the Sorvestsnaget Basin south-western Barents Sea continental margin are used to investigate areal distribution, architectures and provenance of the Middle Eocene sand-bearing depositional system. The sandy system appears on the seismic data as areas with increased reflection seismic amplitudes. The 3D dataset shows an existence of relatively large depositional wedge in the east where it overlies the Intra Lutetian sandy depositional system. The depositional wedge and Intra Lutetian sandy system have some similarities in their seismic reflection pattern and thickness increasing towards the north may indicating the same area of supply. |
