Popis:	The article reports the results of field research conducted from 1997 to 1999 on the expansion of the agricultural frontier in the Amazonian state of Acre, Brazil. Since the 1970s, both cattle ranching and farming expanded significantly in the region, occupying ever larger areas and generating significant conflicts. The article examines the social dynamics of reproducing agricultural space there until the late 1990s.
