Popis: | Medical patients who are alcoholics frequently present management problems; and hospital staff members may be hampered in dealing with them by their personal experiences with alcoholics as well as their professional inexperience in the area of alcoholism. The consultation-liaison psychiatrist can help the staff to improve self-awareness and can serve as an educator and empathizer. Effective intervention can occur at the level of patient, staff, family, or social environment, as illustrated here in two case reports. |
