Popis: | This paper concerns the design and comparison of resonant and non-resonant high-frequency rotating transformers. The transformers are modeled and designed using coupled magnetic, electrical, and thermal models. The models are experimentally verified. Two different design optimizations are conducted, first two standard core geometries are optimized such that, the efficiency is maximized for a required output power. Second, a geometrical optimization is performed, such that the core volume is minimized for the desired output power. The results of both optimizations have indicated large improvements in terms of output power and volume as a result of applying series-series resonant compensation. |
