Popis: | After removal of acid soluble nuclear protein and RNA from Ehrlich ascites cell nuclei the DNA was extracted with hot 0.5 N perchloric acid together with a protein, or proteins, representing from 12 to 16 percent of the total weight of the DNA. The amino acid composition of this protein has a prepronderance of acidic over basic amino acids. After 30 minutes labeling with 14C arginine of cells maintained in minimal medium, the specific activity of this protein, or proteins, was significantly higher than the specific activity of acid soluble or residual nuclear proteins. The labeling of this protein, or proteins, is proportional to the labeling of nuclear RNA with 3H uridine. It is proposed that this protein, or proteins, is involved in the control of RNA synthesis on the DNA template. |
