Despite the ageing of the population having prompted an increment demand in care home services, and the degree of cultural diversity increasing in the workforce of care homes, little is known about the implication of workforce diversity in care homes and its impact on quality care, employee’s well-being, and organisational performance in care homes. This presentation addresses this knowledge deficit and with the aim of gaining an understanding of the influences and implications of the cultural complexity that care homes might face due to the increasing degree of diversity in the workforce and the ageing population. The presentation is based on the scoping literature review study conducted to explore the implications of workforce diversity on the well-functioning dynamics of the care team workforce as well as on the quality of care. The outcomes of the study aim to identify gaps that might contribute to eliminate any potential disadvantages for the older age groups as well as for migrant workers or workers from minority groups.   |
