Popis: Genus Lacydonia Marion and Bobretsky, 1875 Scalispinigera Hartman, 1967: 134 Type species: Lacydonia miranda Marion and Bobretsky, 1875 Diagnosis (modified from Blake, 1994). Prostomium usually rounded, bearing a pair of ventral palps, 2 lateral antennae and 1 median antenna; eyes present or absent; nuchal organs present. Tentacular segment (=achaetous segment 1) reduced, bearing a single pair of short cirri. First 3 segments uniramous, all subsequent segments biramous. Parapodia well developed, bearing dorsal and ventral cirri and sometimes with well-developed supracicular lobes. Notochaetae all simple capillaries; neurochaetae all compound spinigers. Pygidium an elongate segment with 2 lateral cirri and a median and ventral papilla. Remarks. Three species of Lacydonia are currently considered invalid, L. antarctica (synonym of L. oculata sensu Pleijel & Fauchald, 1993), L. incognita (nomen dubium sensu Blake 1994) and L. elongata (synonym of L. papillata sensu Bggemann 2009). The validity of L. eliasoni Hartmann Schrder, 1996 may be questioned as it was originally described as a new name and without deposition of type material. The complete description and illustration of this species is only available in Eliason (1962) as L. nr. miranda and descriptions in Hartmann Schrder (1971; 1996) seem to be based on the same two specimens described in Eliason (1962).
