Popis: | The World Wide Web is a major Internet resource providing potentially vast sources of information. One type of information accessible via the Web is news. Newspapers from around the world are available to new audiences and provide access to information in different ways from their hard copy counterparts. How does the potential that exists in these new forms of news transmission affect old problems of news flows? Seven electronically transmitted newspapers, available on the WWW, from different countries across Asia were examined to determine the content, positive/negative emphasis and news source of information presented to a world audience. Results analyzed whether the news via electronic means is providing an Asian voice to the world or merely perpetuating longstanding news flow problems. |
