Popis: | A series of N-methyl-N-2-[1-(1-arylthiocarbamido)]cyclopentyl nitrobenzamides were synthesized and evaluated for their anticonvulsant activity and potentiation of pentobarbital-induced hypnosis. These compounds were also investigated for their ability to inhibit in vitro respiratory activity during oxidation of pyruvic acid and monoamine oxidase activity of rat brain homogenates. The results obtained from the above studies have failed to provide any structural correlationships between the central nervous system depressant and the enzyme inhibitory properties of these substituted nitrobenzamides. |
