Popis: | The efficacy and low cost of benzylpenicillin make it the desired therapeutic agent for treatment of all infections caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus. The predicton of susceptibility of S. aureus to benzylpenicillin involves the determination of whether or not the strain produces a penicillin lactamase (penicillinase). To do this rapidly, we have developed an accurate test that will detect the presence or absence of penicillinase 5 hr after colonies of the staphylococcus can be identified. |
