Popis: | We read with great interest the case report by Planinc et al. on quadruple-valve infective endocarditis (IE) caused by Abiotrophia defectiva (A. defectiva). The authors should be congratulated, as their approach to replace aortic and pulmonary valves, as well as to repair mitral and tricuspid valves resulted in patient recovery, with satisfactory patient condition even two years after the surgery. Our comment aims to address several contradictory statements in the article and expand on the discussion on this increasingly recognized bacterial species. |
