Popis: To minimize damage to spinal cord and lungs while treating esophageal cancer, a combination technique is useful. Patients receive 4,000–4,500 rads with opposed ports, and then receive an additional 2,000–2,500 rads by 360° rotation. When treated by rotation, patients are in the prone position since this nearly always causes an esophageal shift anteriorly, and the dose to the spinal cord is low.
