Popis: | Summary This paper describes the R and T wave relationships in the lead I electrocardiogram. A significant correlation between R and T wave amplitudes has been demonstrated and the normal R/T ratio has been shown to be 4.0 ± 1.6. A lead I R/T ratio of 7.0 identified 79% of abnormal cardiograms with only 5 % false positives. When obvious diagnoses such as myocardial infarction, right bundle branch block and pericarditis are added to the abnormal electrocardiograms detected by the R/T ratio the detection rate by lead 1 screening improves to 84% of abnormals. It is concluded that the lead I electrocardiogram has a definite role in mass screening. |
