Popis: The features of Salmonella carmel infection were observed in eight infants under 1 year of age who were suffering from enteritis. While four of the infants who were over 6 months of age had mucous diarrhea and did not appear very ill, the four infants aged less than 4 months had severe bloody and purulent diarrhea, were "toxic", and needed intravenous therapy. Salmonella carmel appears to be causative of enteritis in infants under 1 year of age, severely affecting babies in their first half-year of life.
