Popis: | Coagulation activity, detectable by Thrombotest, is formed during incubation of blood or plasma with appropriate amounts of heparin and protamine or with heparin-like substances (dextran sulphate, Liquoid). The exact mechanism for this effect is not known, but in several respects it is similar to that obtained by contact with glass. The findings may be relevant to clinical observations such as increased risk of thrombosis following neutralization of heparin with protamine in vivo, and the so-called rebound effect of heparin. |
