Popis: Palliative surgery aims to restore or compensate for the loss of a function for which nerve repairs are no longer or not feasible. It includes tendon transfer, tenodesis, arthrodesis and osteotomy techniques. Palliative surgery is based on several well-established principles that are essential to know. The purpose of this introductory chapter is to review the various basic principles before undertaking palliative surgery.
