This article aims to analyze the presence of Dante’s citations in two works by the Polish intellectual Erazm Rykaczewski (1803-1873), "Dokładny słownik włosko-polski" (1856), the first bilingual dictionary of Italian-Polish in chronological order (followed a year later by the Polish-Italian part) and "Grammatyka języka włoskiego" (1859), a grammar of the Italian language for Poles. After having exposed, to provide a general framework, Dante’s influence on the Polish romantics and the period ending the nineteenth century, we will focus on some reflections regarding the literary citations present in the two aforementioned publications, with particular attention to the reception of Dante’s work and its possible adaptability to such works. In the case of the dictionary, in addition to the monolingual sources and the author’s choices regarding lemmatization, attention will also be paid to the possible influences that it may have on subsequent Italian-Polish bilingual lexicographic works and on some changes that will occur in the latter in a diachronic key. |
