Popis: | Since hog renin is effective in the treatment and prophylaxis of chronic experimental renal hypertension in the dog, probably through antirenin, a study was made of the prophylactic effect of crude and semipurified hog renins from cortex and from whole kidney on the hypertension, arteriolonecrosis, and course of experimental renal malignant hypertension in the dog. In the absence of medullary protein, protection against the hypertension was found to be well correlated with the antirenin titer. More importantly, the nonrenin fraction of crude hog renin from cortex significantly protected against the arteriolonecrotic lesions and death. |
