Popis: | The complete amino acid sequence of histone H3 from Saccharomyces cereviriae (var.) has been established. The protein molecule consists of 135 residues. Since mammalians and yeast diverged from a common ancestor 15 amino acid substitutions have occurred. These substitutions mainly occur in the C-terminal third of the polypeptide chain. The evolutionary significance of the large number of substitutions is discussed. |
