This paper presents three previously unpublished Roman bronze coins belonging to the group of the so-called “coins of the mines” (nummi metallorum): Hadrianic semisses bearing the reverse legend AELIANA PINCENSIA, one of which is pierced, with a hook still attached. The three coins surfaced in the coin trade and are currently kept in the National Museum of Veliko Gradište. Despite the fact that the original find context of the coins remains unknown, the circumstances surrounding their acquisition by the museum suggest that they originate from the wider territory of the Roman mining district referenced on their reverses. |
