A correlation has been made in human plasma between autoxidation as determined manometrically, and total polyunsaturated fatty acids as determined spectrophotometrically. From this it is possible to formulate an empirical curve by which one may estimate the total polyethenoid acids in less than 1 milliliter of human plasma. The procedure has the advantage that it is quick and simple, but the limitation that it does not give direct information about the individual polyunsaturated fatty acids.
