| Popis: | Synthesis of 7,8-benzo-spiro-(6,4)undecane and its alkyl derivatives have been described. When heated with Pd-C at 380-400° in a sealed tube, dehydrogenation of these spirants accompanied by ring transfermation occurs, affording an anthracene or a phenanthrene derivative as the main product. |
