Popis: | Summary Investigations on the influence of dexamethasone and aldosterone on the activity of phospholipase A 2 in a cell free medium indicated a dose — dependent inhibition by the glucocorticoid dexamethasone whereas aldosterone remained ineffective. The results showed a correlation between this effect and the anti-inflammatory action of dexamethasone possibly due to an inhibition of prostaglandin biosynthesis. Moreover prostaglandins also suppress the activity of phospholipases, regulating their own formation in this way. |
