Popis: Security of lives and properties is very paramount in our society, especially in Nigeria where insecurity has become a very big problem. In curbing insecurity problem, one has to employ various security strategies such as the use of an improved access control system also known as three Steps access control system which is achieved by integrating facial recognitions and short messaging services into radio frequency identification access control system. The primary goal of this study is on the integrating of facial recognitions and short messaging services on the existing Radio frequency identification tag (RFID Tag) access control system and to carry out a comparative analysis between the existing and the improved access control system by carrying out a physical test on which one is more reliable than the other using statistical method to realize the results for the comparative analysis. The one step access control system which is generally used consists of only the Radio frequency identification tag for its functionality. It was improved in this work by integrating facial recognition and short messaging services for more secured access control system also known as three steps access control with the advantage of face matching and short message services. The developed system and the existing one-step security system were physically tested and analyzed; the three-step access control system was proven to be more secured than the other through a comparative analysis carried out in ten days to ascertain which one is more secured. The one step access control is known for the use of only Radio frequency identification tag for gaining access into secured environment, while the improved system function with face matching technique and short messaging services which delivers one-time password (OTP) to the authorized personnel to access restricted area.
