The goal of this paper is to illustrate how important and necessary it is for the designer to shift and expand his attention from vision to others senses. In order to do so, it describes the design process of the Blur Building - a cloud whirling above Lake Neuchatel in Yverdon-les-Bains in Switzerland designed by Elizabeth Diller and Ricardo Scofidio. Its main conclusion is that Sensory Design might be an important methodological strategy for heightening and broadening users’ experiences, perception, and emotional engagement with the constructed environment. |
