Popis: | Administration of testosterone propionate to neonatal female rats has shown an induced syndrome of sterility characterized by acyolicity and anovulation. This study examines the ability of the uterus of androgenized female rats to respond to estradiol by measuring changes in weight and formation of specific estrogen-induced proteins. Results indicate that uteri from diestrus and androgenized female rats responded to estrogen by the production of estrogen-induced proteins with similar electrophoretic mobility. It is concluded that the uterus from intact androgenized rats is tonically maximally stimulated but after ovariectomy the atrophied uterus is capable of growing in response to estradiol and of producing estrogen-induced proteins with the same electrophoretic mobility as those in normal uteri. |
