Popis: Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi, Delhi-110 007 Manuscript received 19 June 1980, revised 24 January 1983, accepted 30 March 1983 Dicarboxylato derivatives of (cyclopentadienyl, methylcyclopentadienyl)titanium(IV) of the type (C3H5)(CH2C5H4)Ti(O2CR)2 (R= -CH,Cl2 — CHCI2, — CCI3, —CH2, — C2H5, — C2H7, or — C6H5) have been prepared in aqueous as well as nonaqueous media by the reaction of [(C6H5)(CH2C5H4)] TiCl2, with the respective sodium carboxylates. These complexes have been characterised by elemental analyses, molecular weight determinations, conductivity measurements, it and 1H nmr spectroscopy. The carboxylato ligands have been found to be monodentate in the complexes where R= — CH2CI, — CHC12 — CCl2,whereas in the other complexes they are chelating bidentate. , Moreover, cyclopentadienyl and methylcyclopentadienyl rings are not identically pentahapto in the complexes where the carboxylato ligands are bidentate.
