The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) 2005, is recognised as a tool of gender equity and Empowerment. Various provision under this scheme had aim to ensure that women has an equitable and easy access of work. The act makes it compulsory that one-third of workers are women. Through this scheme women are benefited individually because they are able to earn independently, spend money for their own needs, contribute to family expenditure and participate in intra household decisions making. The objective of the study about MGNREGS women workers in Dindigul district, women participation rate in the scheme and to offer suggestions and improvement in the scheme. The data collected for the study is secondary data. The study found that there is rapid increase the work status, through this the women workers are benefited lot and their socio-economic status has also improved through MGNREGS.   |
