Popis:	This paper focuses on today's midwife as she prepares to meet the challenges of childbearing parents tomorrow. Patterns of maternity care are changing throughout the world, and the professional midwife must adapt to the new demands placed on her by contemporary society. She must continually acquire new knowledge and skills and extend her sphere of practice with the overall goal of improving the care given to mothers and babies.
