Popis: The diversity of birds in Tuxpan, Veracruz, has been a topic of different works. Nevertheless, these have focused mainly on coastal ecosystems. The aim of this study was to analyzing the diversity of birds in six places of the municipality of Tuxpan, Veracruz, in addition to realizing a complementarity analysis including previous studies realized in the area. Morning and evening samplings were realized during the period from August 2014 until March 2015. We recorded 155 species of birds, equivalent to 21.5 % of the wealth of birds of the state of Veracruz, finding a major importance of the beta diversity due to the species turnover between the places, in addition to registering 14 species in some conservation category within the Mexican official standard NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010. In the regional analysis including the previous studies, there was reached an accumulated richness of 230 species, which is equivalent to 31.9 % of the birds of Veracruz. This paper emphasizes the importance of the regional studies in order to improve the species lists then, so must better plan the conservation efforts. We show the particular importance of the beta diversity to explain the diversity at a landscape level.
