Popis: | There is not a single country in the world capable of escaping economic losses from animal viral diseases. The economic losses are estimated at billions of dollars, especially in countries where veterinary care is poorly developed. In developing countries, the bulk of loss in livestock productivity due to virus infections is directly related to economic growth. The effect of nutrition worldwide is obvious. Animal and avian herpesviruses have been responsible for an appreciable number of illnesses, causing sizable financial loss. Pseudorabies, for instance, has caused an economic loss of at least $100 million each year. |
