| Popis: | Examples of clinical applications of neural control in the form of neural prostheses for effecting respiration and bladder evacuation are discussed with emphasis on methods of extending them from their present open-loop form to closed-loop systems. More advanced prostheses such as multichannel auditory prostheses and visual prostheses based on intracortical stimulation require the development of safer and more effective electrodes. Details of a promising new intracortical capacitor stimulating electrode are presented. |
