Popis: | In this work, a continuous-time unit commitment formulation of a hydrothermal system with integration of offshore wind power is used to model the North European system operation. The cost of covering the structural imbalances in the system is quantified by a cost comparison to an analogous discretetime model. If the discrete-time unit commitment is implemented for real-time operation, 55 MWh (0.22%) load shedding should be introduced since the demand in periods with high net-load ramping cannot be met. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed framework reduces system balancing cost and the events of ramping scarcity in the real-time balancing.
