Popis: | In order to verify a local effect of homologous antitesticular antiserum on spermatogenesis in guinea pigs, intratesticular injection of the immune serum was performed. Normal homologous serum or other unrelated sera were used as controls. Complement fixation, passive cutaneous anaphylaxis, and immobilising tests were used to evaluate antitesticular antibodies in all sera. The lesions induced in the testis were studied at different periods of time after injection. It was found that: (1) vascular congestion and exudation were the predominant histologic changes appearing during the first week, either by transfer of control or experimental sera; (2) in the gonads injected with antitesticular serum, focal lesions appeared from the third to the seventh weeks, the lesions being characterised by lysis of germinal cells and mononuclear cell infiltration, which evoke those described for the classical allergic orchitis; and (3) no signs of similar damage were detected in this period using control sera. |
