Popis:	The purpose of this paper is to record observations on the effect of positional changes on the duration of the various physiological phases of the cardiac cycle, as well as to record changes in posteroanterior diameters of the heart caused by the assumption of the erect posture. The mechanics of postural adaptation are discussed, and some of the possible mechanisms responsible for the variations in the duration of the various phases of the cardiac cycle are considered.
