Popis: | Pneumothorax is more likely to occur during continuous respiratory support in the patient with chronic emphysema who is using a volume-controlled respirator that delivers a high tidal volume and incorporates positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP). Pneumothorax which occurs during pressure breathing is highly dangerous. It is characterized by a dramatic onset which is readily recognized and demands immediate management. |
