Popis: | The increasing importance of optimization in manufacturing processes led to the improvement of well established optimization techniques and to the development of new and innovative approaches. Among these, an approach that exploits surface stresses distribution to obtain an optimized configuration is the Biological Growth Method (BGM). Coupling this method with surface sculpting based on Radial Basis Functions (RBF) mesh morphing had proven to be efficient and effective in optimizing specific mechanical components. In this work, the automatic, meshless and constrained parameter-less optimization approach is applied to a classical mechanical component and then compared with a parameter-based shape optimisation result. |
