Popis: Traditional knowledge consists of indigenous and local community knowledge, inventions, and traditions. Before the advent of modern medicine, numerous communities, especially indigenous peoples, had evolved their own folk beliefs that included medicinal practices. These folk beliefs were the basis for traditional medicine, which encompasses the medical parts of traditional knowledge. Traditional Medicine might thus be considered a component of traditional knowledge. Protection and benefit sharing of traditional medicine has been extensively contested topics on the global and national platforms for decades. In this chapter, we will make an attempt to present an overview of traditional medicine as well as the intricacies of the different points of view regarding the protection of traditional medicine across the world, with a particular emphasis on the national perspective.
